Description: In celebration of our 50th year, New Jersey Association of Museums will be hosting a one-day convening celebrating fifty years –– our golden anniversary –– by discussing what museums across the state have learned in the past 50 years and what the future of New Jersey museums could look like in 50 years. The conference invites museum directors, curators, educators, students, board members, and other professionals from New Jersey to envision a “gold standard” for museums across the state. Sessions will explore and ideate around best practices for museum operations, collections, visitor experience, education and other subject areas. Join us as NJAM celebrates fifty years of camaraderie and support of New Jersey’s museums on June 5, 2023 at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ.
NJAM 2023 Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker – Dr. Vedet Coleman-Robinson. Dr. Coleman-Robinson will be in conversation with Marion Gill around the topic Establishing the Gold Standard for New Jersey Museums.
Dr. Coleman-Robinson is Executive Director (ex officio) of the Association of African American Museums (AAAM). Learn more about Dr. Coleman here.
As associate director of special projects (Princeton University), Marion Gill serves as the Provost’s Office delegate on major initiatives at the University, providing project management, coordination, and planning support.
Registration also includes breakout sessions and lunch. Topics for breakout sessions you can choose from are: Art + History: The Power of Artist-in-Residence Programs to Expand Narratives at Historic Sites; Access for All; It's Not Just Babysitting: Practical Techniques for Developing an After School Program; No money, No Mission: Share Your Small Museum Fundraising and Earned Revenue Strategies; Community-Engaged History and Storytelling as a Tool for Museums; Going for Gold in 2023: Lessons Learned and Future Visions for Museum Programs, Preparing for the U.S. Semiquincentennial: New Jersey Museums and America’s 250th Anniversary.
